What Can We Do

Equipment Operations Training

we can build your equipment in the virtual world by taking your drawings and creating a digital twin. We can build in any level of complexity from a simple surface render to a full exploded view of all the components working together. Your imagination is our challenge. We can animate operating parameters and allow users to experiment with conditions

Safety Training

Let us turn your safety procedures into animated and engaging modules your teams will look forward to completing. Any topic, any site, with verification and knowledge checks

Maintenance Training

Would your teams benefit from a standard work approach to stripping and rebuilding components? We can create digital twins of any component and augment with real images to simplify test and inspection. We can create multi component games to test operators knowledge of components and how they go together. We can create visual interactive games to teach standard process for refurbishment, strip and rebuild or any maintenance scenario.

Work Instruction and procedure animation

Bring your work instructions and procedures alive by making them an interactive, gamified online modules. Test that your teams know the procedure, verify they can follow the work instruction, rehearse the activity in safety before going out into the field.

How do we work with you to build a training course

The General Process

At Chiton Consulting we are experienced instructional designers. We have developed a clear and concise process to take an idea for a training course to a full build and deployment in your company. By following the steps below we ensure you get the course you want

Step 1. Establish the learning objectives

We begin the process by establishing with you a clear learning objective or objectives. We need your guidance on what you want to achieve. A clear learning objective helps our develop team decide the level of complexity of the content.

Step 2. Content analysis

Together with you we examine in detail the drivers behind the learning objectives established previously. For example, safety issues, or maintenance or operations problems, or a lack of understanding of operating conditions or parameters. We then take this guidance and develop a list of the “hot topics” to focus on so we can begin to develop relevant activities, simulations and questions for knowledge checks that ensure we cover the right content for your company.

Step 3. Learning Theory – The Chiton Consulting Philosophy

At Stacked Learning we understand that the most effective training courses are those that are not lengthy, one time sessions, but composed of opportunities to repeat learning and reaffirm knowledge in different ways. We lean on the work of Edgar Dale and his cone of learning (see below) and David Kolb’s experiential learning theory (see below) as we build our content.

Step 4. Build the content

At this step we build the basic course architecture, apply your branding and begin to populate the content. To being a build with us we need to collect drawings, photo’s, procedures, work instructions, in fact everything to create the content. Your IP and confidential information is secure with Stacked Learning and will be returned to you at the conclusion of the build. Often our clients will set up a sharepoint folder and grant read access to us. We are happy to sign any confidentiality agreement or contract to ensure your information stays safe. This step is the longest step in the process, particularly for the first course we build for you. Subsequent courses can use the templates and branding created here (yes, we want to build more than one course for you).

Step.5 Template build and first content

Once we have created some content it is important to us that you are happy with what we have built. Changes can always be made to the content and structure but it is easier earlier on in the process. If you are happy, we continue with content build. At this stage in the build we need to sign off that we have the customer specific information (photo’s, plans, drawings, work instructions, procedures) to complete the build.

Step 6. First Draft Sign off

Once we have created most of the content we will prepare a first draft for you to sign off. We can still make detail changes at this point, add or delete information but not redesign the whole course for new objectives. Once signed off we are locked in to finish off the module as designed

Step. 7 Delivery of Content

We can export the final content in a variety of format’s compatible with most Learning Management Systems (LMS’s). Let us know your preference.

After build support

At Chiton Consulting we stand by our content and if in the future you need a refreshed version of the content, or in a new format, or the content becomes corrupted, we will fix it for you. If we create other content and find a way of optimising some of the code to run with a smaller footprint or faster we will offer you (at no charge) a new copy of the course content
